Labor Day symbolizes the end of summer, yet it also marks the beginning of a season that’s always felt more grounding to me. It’s the back-to-school season that in the past often meant the start of a new apartment lease in my adopted hometown of Chicago, and, more than once, a transition to a new job.
On September 5, 2023, I started my career with Abbott, finally settling into a right fit job with a company that feels like home. I started the day after Labor Day and appreciate the symbolic timing of my return to laboring in the corporate world. Careers, like seasons and friendships, are always evolving. It’s how we choose to show up for the next chapter that creates meaning.
