Welcome Spring

Spring never arrives with any consistency in the Midwest. Some days I notice the softening light or a few brave flowers trying to emerge from the ground, the next we might get an inch of snow.  With the official start of spring this weekend, I find myself thinking about why this season is one of my favorites, for both inspired and practical reasons.

With the promise of longer days and warmer months ahead, following are some of our favorite Spring sentiments. While Atwood captures the physical nature of how spring invites us back outside, I love Johnson’s sentiment of hope and resilience.

As spring slowly unfolds in the coming weeks and month, we at Language of Friendship encourage you to embraces this season of possibility and renewal!

Where flowers bloom, so does hope.

Lady Bird Johnson

A Light exists in Spring Not present on the Year At any other period — When March is scarcely here.

Emily Dickenson

Hush, can you hear it?
The rustling in the grass,
Bringing you the welcome news that
Winter’s day is past.

May Fenn

Spring is the time of plans and projects.

Leo Tolstoy

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.
