Time seems to pass so quickly that it’s not hard to lose track of a friend that you don’t see regularly. That’s especially true if you’re not one to rely on social media to maintain contact. My advice is never to worry about how much time has gone by and whether it’s too late to reach out to someone you haven’t spoken with in a while. If you were close and you are missing your friend, chances are your friend has probably been missing you too and will be glad to hear from you.
In the past month, I’ve been pleasantly surprised twice by friends who have reconnected with me after a period of time when we didn’t see each other. One invited me to join her on an outing to the New England Botanical Gardens, which is a significant ride away, but the orchid exhibit Patterns in Bloom was there and a day with my friend sounded far too good to pass up. So, we went and had a blast admiring the amazing shapes and colors that nature wows us with in the form of orchid blooms.
True friendship resists time, distance, and silence.

A few days after that outing, another friend whom I had not seen in years reached out to catch up. I was so happy to hear from her that we managed to squeeze an in-person meeting into an otherwise packed schedule. We chatted over hot drinks on a dreary day and walked away promising to see each other again soon.
Spring is coming, and with it a chance to rekindle friendships that may have hibernated during the winter months. We challenge you to reach out to someone you may not have seen in a while and make the effort to have an adventure, no matter how small. Your soul will thank you.
