Holiday Movies🍿

The first half of December usually feels pretty busy in preparation of the holidays. As the year winds to a close, however, everything seems to slow down. What better time to enjoy a movie with friends? There are so many great films that are either centered around holiday time, or that take place with a backdrop of late December festivities. Here are a few of our favorites. Grab the popcorn!

Comedy: If you’re looking for laughs this season, you can’t go wrong with Will Ferrell’s Elf, the enduring hit from 1990 Home Alone, the classic coming-of-age memoir A Christmas Story, or National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Kids: My kids could watch Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever on repeat for days. My favorites are the oldies, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Year Without a Santa Claus (Beware: that Heat Miser song stays stuck in your head for weeks after viewing!).

Rom Com: If you’re looking for something romantic, The Holiday or Love Actually are two fun movies with great casts that never seem to get old.

New: In theaters now if you’re looking to get out of the house, The Holdovers offers up a warm comedy about a few lonely souls left at a boarding school during the holiday break. The Noel Diary and Your Christmas or Mine? are both sweet newer Rom-Coms available for streaming.

Classics: For those in the mood for something nostalgic, Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life and Holiday Affair are older films worth watching on repeat during the holidays.
